Kathy Forbes came to the Univ
ersity of Iowa Department of Dance from the University of Iowa College of Law and has adjusted nicely to the world of dancers. While she is not officially a dancer herself, she is familiar with the world of the performing arts as she was a member of the Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band and Iowa Pep Band while earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies at the University of Iowa; as well as an Associate of Arts Degree in Public Relations from Kirkwood Community College. Each Fall you will find Kathy proudly participated in the annual Univeristy of Iowa Alumni Band. Kathy's true Hawkeye spririt is captured in the following UI Homecoming Alumni Band Audio Slide show.
Kathy is currently serving on a President's Charter Committee as Co-Director of the 2009-2010 Hancher Advisory Committee. In addition, Kathy was selected to serve as a member of the University of Iowa Student Success Team supporting the Iowa Challenge and was nominated to serve as a committee member of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Staff Recognition Committee.
Kathy earned her first moment in the dance spotlight by performing at Space Place Theater in the premiere of Sara Semonis' Graduate Concert piece Rocky Mountain Low. Kathy and her husband Glen also served as special guests in Simone Linhares Ferro's MFA Thesis concert Private Club Above All Suspicions, where they cut up the stage dancing the Fox Trot with three other celebrity couples. In addition, Kathy served as one of six dancers involved in the choreography of Emeritus Associate Professor Helen Chadima for Musick's Feast, a madrigal renaissance benefit concert inspired to alleviate hunger in the Iowa City community. Most recently Kathy performed in Santo Scavuzzo's MFA Thesis concert in a cameo role in Being Santo DiSanti.
It is believed that Kathy has officially caught the performing bug and continues to resonate with the rhythmic vibrations on the ceiling of her office!
