Foreign student applicants whose native language is other than English must take and pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) unless they have received a degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada (except Québec), Australia, or New Zealand. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 is required for admittance to the MFA program. TOEFL scores in the range of 500-600 will require an English evaluation on campus, and course work may be required the first year. The TOEFL examination is given at various times of the year, and in many centers throughout the world.
Inquiries should be addressed to the Director, TOEFL, Educational Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey, 08541. The National TOEFL Registration Center in Baltimore can be contacted by calling 1-800-GO-TOEFL. Visit www.toefl.org for more information.
