Arts Share

Arts Share continues The University of Iowa's long tradition of sharing creative resources from the Division of Performing Arts (music, dance, theatre), the School of Art and Art History, and the Writers' Workshop. Our goal is to strengthen the arts in underserved areas, reaching out to provide access to life-enriching arts experiences throughout Iowa.

Almost 100 faculty artists and graduate students from the UI School of Art and Art History, the Division of Performing Arts, and the Writers’ Workshop are available through Arts Share. Faculty artists are distinguished professionals, having performed and taught throughout the United States and abroad. Graduate artists attend one of the prestigious University of Iowa graduate programs in the arts, and have been recommended to us by a faculty member. Most graduate artists have extensive performing and teaching experience.

Dancers in Company

Founded in 1986, Dancers in Company is UI's own touring dance company, comprised of a select group of auditioned dancers praised for their ability to reach all levels of dance-educated audiences through a changing repertory, mixing traditional works with new and innovative dances that audiences find humorous, poignant and sometimes unexpected.

Through an extensive schedule of performances, demonstrations, master classes, and workshops, Dancers in Company reflects the goals and educational mission of the UI Department of Dance, offering equally strong training in both modern and ballet dance technique.

Dance GalaDrawing from professional UI faculty, contemporary guest choreographers, and reconstructed master-works, a wide range of recognized choreographers unite on one stage, presenting a varied spectrum of concert dance.

Tours have included a live-audience taping of the entire program on Iowa Public Television, performances in over 25 communities in the state of Iowa, as well as Chicago, Galena, Kansas City, Milwaukee, and St. Louis, and the 1990 Hong Kong International Dance Festival.
