Iowa Arts Fellowship

For Outstanding Performers and/or Choreographers

This is a one-year award that includes a $20,000 academic year fellowship stipend plus a scholarship for full tuition and 50 percent of the mandatory fees as listed in the tuition and mandatory fees table.


  • Exceptional talent in performance and/or choreography
  • Formal admission to the Graduate College
  • Admission to the Department of Dance MFA (please see Applications for admission procedures and a list of requirements)
  • Nomination by the Dance Department and approval by the Graduate College

Fellowship Award

This competitive merit award from the Graduate College includes a tuition waiver and a stipend, renewable for a second year upon satisfactory completion of the first two semesters. For those students electing to complete the MFA in 2.5 or 3 years, the Department makes every effort to continue funding through a Research or Teaching Assistantship, but these awards are not guaranteed and are made on a case by case basis.
