David Liu
Second Year MFA in Dance, Choreography Track
Biography
David Liu is a dancer, choreographer, and creative technologist whose work explores the space between human movement and digital systems. Rooted in popping, animation, tutting, and freestyle, his movement practice is shaped by rhythm, precision, experimentation, and curiosity. As an MFA candidate in Dance at the University of Iowa, David investigates how bodies can interact with technology—and increasingly, how people can function like living components within interactive choreographic systems.
His creative practice combines dance with tools such as TouchDesigner, motion tracking, Kinect, EEG sensors, projection, and other real-time generative visuals. Rather than treating technology simply as a backdrop, he is interested in creating environments where dancers, visuals, sound, and computational systems continuously influence one another.
David says: Let's rock.
