Biography

George de la Peña is an interdisciplinary performer, director, choreographer, educator, and writer. From classical to avant-garde work, from stage to screen, de la Peña continues to perform as well as investigate the history, philosophy and unfolding practices of avant-garde theatre, literature, and film. As a professor at the University of Iowa, he collaborates regularly with the International Writing Program. In addition to writing a book about the avant-garde disciplines, he is currently collaborating with multi-award-winning director/choreographer Martha Clarke and writer Fanny Howe on God’s Fool for LaMama, Experimental Theatre Company in New York City. He is also working on a new play/performance piece with writer Andrei Codrescu.
