Dance and Opera Production Stage Manager
Biography

KatyBeth Schmid is the Production Stage Manager for the Department of Dance and the Martha-Ellen Tye Opera Theatre at the University of Iowa. She received her MFA in Stage Management from UI in 2013 and spent the following years working for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas (KÀ, Criss Angel Believe, and Criss Angel Mindfreak LIVE!) and internationally (Ovo arena tour). Regional work includes the 2018 Sir Rosevelt x Cirque du Soleil concert in Denver, two seasons with Iowa Summer Rep, two seasons with Crossroads Rep at Indiana State University, and three seasons with the ECU/Loessin Summer Playhouse at East Carolina University. Additional Las Vegas work includes four productions of One Night for One Drop for Cirque du Soleil’s One Drop Foundation (2015-2018); Circus Couture: Twelve, a fundraiser for the Cure for the Kids Foundation; and the Abbott Labs Keynote at CES 2022. Recent work at the University of Iowa includes Dance Gala 2022 and Dance Gala 2023, La Traviata, and L’amico Fritz. KatyBeth is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association.
