Lyle Juracek
Lyle Juracek has held the Dance Accompanist/Adjunct Assistant Professor position at the University of Iowa Dance Department since 1994. He accompanies for ballet classes and teaches Music Fundamentals for Dancers. He received his Masters of Music in Piano Performance from Michigan State University in 1975. He was previously employed by Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo as Assistant Professor/Music Director from 1991-1994. In addition, he has worked as the full time dance accompanist in ballet and modern for Interlochen Arts Academy (1987-1991).
Lyle has been an active guest accompanist for festivals and workshops. He has played for the Midwest Regional Dance Conference in E. Lansing, MI, Performers Ballet and Jazz Workshop in Albuquerque, NM, and the ACDFA Festival at Cal State-Long Beach. He has been a guest musician for DanceAspen, Limon Dance Workshop, Briansky-Saratoga Ballet, and the Russian Ballet Student and Teacher Seminar at Western Michigan University.
The teaching luminaries Lyle has played for include Violette Verdy, Jillana, Francoise Martinet, Luis Fuente, Alonzo King, Fernando Bujones, Linda Maybarduk, and Basil Thompson. At the University of Iowa, Lyle often performs on graduate student programs and for UI Dance Company.
